The ever increasing population influx in the urban areas, mainly due to migration, and the physical expansion of the built up area beyond the city limits are envisaged as important factors for rising the demands for more land as well as changes in land utilization. The overall effect of economic policies on the spatial changes in the migration and land utilization pattern can be varied and far-reaching. Temporal changes in land use of the study are analyzed with Indian Remote Sensing Satellite Images: IRS IC and IRS ID (LISS-III and PAN) using GIS softwares. The present study focuses the extent to which migration is being influenced by the new location of investment projects and also analyzes the trends in migration pattern together with its effect on the changes in land use. The present paper brings out a model for linkages of investment pattern, migration and the land use changes.
