Education of Floating Children in China

In China, floating population is defined as population whose residential places are separated from their household registration places. Either they have lived in their residential places for over half a year, or they have left their household registration places for over half a year. In this paper, the "floating children" refers to those who are 6-14 years of age and have lived in their destinations for over six months or have left their household registration place for over six months following their parents or other guardians. The objective of the paper is to describe the status of the education of floating children compared with the children who were not floating in both destination and origin areas. In addition, the obstacle of the education for the floating children will also be explored.
